How to stay up to date with the current threat landscape

Although it is practically impossible to cover all the latest developments in the ever-changing cybersecurity world, it may be hard to stay up to date with the current threat landscape, so I wanted to share some of the resources I’ve personally been following lately to stay informed about the latest developments and news. Whether you are a cybersecurity professional or you’re just interested in information security and data privacy, I hope these might be of interest to you! Here are some of the resources I’ve been following for a while and that I highly recommend:

Blogs and websites

Also and as a sidenote, if you follow few more blogs or sites in general and aren’t using any RSS reader, I highly recommend Inoreader as well. It is a great, highly customizable and free RSS feed reader where to follow all the latest articles of these and your favorite blogs in one single portal.

Podcasts

I’ve also been listening to many great podcasts lately. The podcasts I’m recommending below do not necessarily only cover the latest events in the IT world and the current threat landscape, but some of them also cover different topics, from discussing the ethics of big tech and online privacy, to simply narrate some awesome hacker and penetration tester stories in a very educational way. I can’t recommend them enough. I’ll divide this list in two:

Latest cybersecurity news
General cybersecurity and online privacy interest

The podcasts in this list are not necessarily focused on the latest developments but instead, they focus more on a narrative of one or multiple stories, the conversations with their multiple guests or more general topics like crypto, online privacy, etc:

I’ve linked the original website for each podcast, but of course most if not all of them are available in Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast and all major platforms.

Lastly, I also follow some discord servers and many cool infosec folks on twitter, but I’ll leave it to you to find who to follow over there ๐Ÿ˜‰ But yes, not only InfoSec twitter can be fun, but also many of the latest events have been reported over Twitter first (like the infamous Log4Shell). The other major incentive of Twitter is that I’m also over there, and I sometimes post pics of my dog!

Please let me know if I missed any of your favorite podcasts (or not, you are free to do what you wish lol I’m not your mom). I’m always happy to discover something new!
